Steve has been playing with Redhill Sinfonia for more years than he can remember. Being one of the oldest amateur orchestras in the world, it boasts alumni and associations from its 130+ year history with some rather famous names including Elgar and Vaughan Williams. It also has the member with the world record for the musician for the longest career in the same orchestra; so it must be a good place to play!
Not just a fun organisation to be a part of, the orchestra performs public concerts at least times a year, tackling works from Classical to Modern with enthusiasm under the established baton of John Beswick. It supports the development of local talent in both performing local composers works (including Steve’s), and in supporting young concerto competition winners with the opportunity to perform live in front both a large audience and a full symphony orchestra.
Steve is incredibly grateful for the time and talents of so many friends from the orchestra who have contributed to his catalogue of works, without whom, he’d have to learn even more instruments. Here are some snaps of some of them in the recording “mancave”:
